Bio

After a decades long career as a photojournalist, in 2017 my focus pivoted to sculpture. My interest in sculpture began in high school when I was fortunate to attend a school reknowned for its history in the arts, Cranbrook Academy.  Since retirement I have had  time to devote myself to this practice exclusively.  I work primarily in metal, forging, cutting, grinding and welding the elements into shapes inspired by nature, and often by the objects themselves which I find in my foraging.

I was a photojournalist for over 40 years,  3 decades at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and 9 years at Missouri Lawyers Weekly.  I freelanced for 6 years after leaving these publications.

  My work has appeared in Life, Time, Newsweek, and has won many awards, including the international competition, Pictures of the Year, with a first place in general news for a photograph on homelessness.
