My Artist Statement

I have been an artist throughout my adult life, fortunate enough to support myself and my family doing what I love. For over four decades, I worked as a photojournalist, and I am now dedicated to sculpture.

Just before the COVID pandemic, I was lucky to find a studio space—thanks to a connection made through my sculpture teacher at Meramec, Joe Chesla. This opportunity allowed me to devote myself fully to my craft, and during the shutdown, I produced a significant body of work. I also learned how to enter art competitions and share my creations publicly. Today, my home serves as my gallery.

The process of discovery in this new creative phase is essential to me. I cherish the search for raw materials, ongoing education, and building connections within the arts community. These elements fuel my passion and growth.

Each sculpture I create is unique. I enjoy sharing my work with the world, though parting with each piece can be challenging. This journey has also been about embracing my identity as an artist—finding the courage to call myself one.
